Covenant Women
What do we do?
1. Christian fellowship with women
-
Opportunity to nurture, support and mentor the women of our church, at every age
2. Stewardship through service and monetary giving, for our church, our community and our
national organization.
-
Locally, our funds go to provide many items for our church, provide food service for
church events, and provide support for those in need in our community. As well as for those
who are sharing Christ in various mission opportunities.
-
We are a part of the Northwest Conference and funds go to support the leadership of the
conference, and our Special Interest Missionary. This year, she is Erika Clauson, who is
serving in Mexico in Community Development, Evangelism and Outreach.
-
The National Women's Ministries organization has various projects that we support
through our giving, including: AVA (Advocacy for Victims of Abuse), which is a ministry
that informs, educates, and raises awareness about abuse in congregations and
communities. This great program is active in five nations now! "Embrace the Change"
provides economic empowerment of women in the Congo.
Other Missions
-
Many of our women meet monthly for Bible study and to work on projects that benefit
missions. Quilts and other sewing projects are sent to nursing homes, people in crisis, or to mission areas. We remember our missionaries with cards and monetary gifts as well. -
Lake Beauty Women's Retreat: every fall, many of us enjoy a relaxing, renewing weekend at
Lake Beauty Bible Camp in Long Prairie, MN. We gather with other women from the district, renewing old friendships! The retreat is held in September. Plan to get away for this great weekend of fun and fellowship! -
In October, there is a "Girls Night Out" event, spent in New London. It is a fun time of shopping with friends! Watch for details as that time gets closer!
-
In November, Salem holds a "Free Community Clothing Closet". It is a great way to share
with our friends and neighbors in the community. Feel free to drop gently used clothing for all ages, and sizes prior to the event! -
The Hospitality Committee arranges or makes meals for those who are sick or afflicted in some way that doesn't allow them much time to prepare their own meals for themselves or their families. We also take meals to any family that has had a new addition in an effort to help them as they make their transition to having a new family member. In contrast, we also try to help in a time of grief for any family that has suffered a loss. To learn how to become involved, Click Here to visit our Local Missions page.
